We were commissioned by the owner to design a lakeside restaurant and bar in Luzhou, Sichuan Province. The space is a semi-open pavilion structure. The concept of white birds and water ripples echoed the expectations of the site, and natural elements such as wind, light and peripheral views will be used to redefine and shape the mood of the space.
The interior of the space consists of a dining area as well as a central bar, with the site extending from the center to the exterior. As diners look out from the dining space, they will step under a geometric roof that is enveloped in light and drenched in color.
Here, the relationship between people and the lake is one of “gazing”, and in contrast to the usual role of being “gazed at” in a waterfront building, the lake becomes a sort of backdrop, and by glancing out at the lake while dining, one inadvertently sees what is happening in this corner.
